Ibrahim Zaki - YASALAM

Ibrahim Zaki is a talented graphic designer and calligrapher based in Dubai, recognized for his exceptional skills in Arabic typography and design.


Born in Riyadh City, Ibrahim's passion for calligraphy was inherited from his father, a renowned calligrapher.


He pursued his artistic journey by obtaining a BA in Graphic Design from Al Najah University in Palestine, a leading institution in Fine Arts.


Since beginning his career in 2008, Ibrahim has continually expanded his creative practice. 


His journey began in advertising agencies in Palestine, where he honed his design skills.


In 2013, he moved to the UAE, seeking bigger challenges and opportunities.


By 2016, he joined Tashkeel, a prestigious art and design organization in Dubai, where he currently serves as the Senior Graphic Designer.


His work seamlessly combines traditional Arabic calligraphy with contemporary graphic design, earning him several private commissions and selections for the worldwide initiative 'Hundred Best Arabic Posters.'

He has showcased his work at esteemed exhibitions, including Tasmeem Anti-Type at ICD Brookefield, 'Delusions & Errors' during Dubai Design Week in the UAE, Weltformat Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland, and the Best 100 Arabic Posters at the German University of Cairo.


He also serves on the Anti-Type jury panel by Tasmeem at ICD Brookefield in Dubai, reflecting his influence in the design community.

His dedication to Arabic scripts is evident in his continuous education and professional development.


In 2019, Ibrahim attended the Rhode Island School of Design Information and participated in conferences like Type Berlin in 2016 and 2017.


He has also undertaken training courses by acclaimed institutions, including the Khatt Foundation and Rhode Island School of Design Information, further deepening his understanding and appreciation of Arabic typography.

In addition to his professional work, Ibrahim is an active teaching artist, regularly delivering workshops for children, young people, and adults. 


His commitment to sharing his knowledge and inspiring the next generation of artists highlights his role as a mentor and educator in the artistic community.
