Saif Fradj
Saif Fradj is a Tunisian independent visual artist and filmmaker, born in 1989 in Boumerdes, Mahdia, and currently based in Sousse.
"I chose to remain here, rooted in my homeland, to craft a distinct aesthetic beauty that is unique to us, the people of the South, and our Arab identity."
Originally embarking on a path in medicine at the Faculty of Sousse in 2008, Saif made the bold decision to pivot toward photography and filmmaking, driven by his passion for capturing the essence of reality through the lens.
Saif's artistic journey is characterized by his experimental approach, utilizing mobile, analog, and digital photography, as well as video and film.
His work seeks to represent the fragility of reality, capturing it through pictorial and textual documents.
Through his art, he explores profound questions about strangeness, frontiers, and identity in the context of modern neo-colonialism.
In 2018, Saif held his first photography exhibition titled "Démolition," which took place at ElBirou Sousse and Art’com Marsa.
The following year, he presented "Horizon immédiat" at ElBirou Sousse and the Festival Horizon in Marseille, France.
His works have been exhibited and screened in Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, France, and Portugal, showcasing his ability to engage audiences across different cultural landscapes.
In addition to his individual pursuits, Saif is a co-founder of the Bouma Collective and South of Ajdabya, initiatives that reflect his commitment to collaborative and community-focused projects.
Through these endeavors, he continues to challenge perceptions and provoke dialogue about contemporary social and cultural issues.
