Abdelmounaim documents a road journey south from Marrakech through Mauritania to Senegal. He drives rather thanflies, insisting on sustained attention to how terrain, settlement, and light transform across hundreds of kilometers. Mauritania remains almost entirely absent from global consciousness, barely registering in international news.

His photographs counter this invisibility by showing what exists: railroad tracks stretching to horizons, windmills marking sparse settlements, the slow accumulation of landscape. These are simple assertions: these territories can be crossed, the paths can be shown, the desert is not impassable.
