THE ARTIST

Rex Chouk

RexChouk, emerging in 2013, is a multimedia artist based in Jeddah who offers commentary on global systems through pop culture-infused characters.

His self-taught approach blends painting, drawing, illumination, and sound to explore corporeality and reveal the interconnectedness of our world.

Working under a pseudonym and mask, RexChouk portrays Khaleeji pop culture through humorous vignettes.

His art weaves contemporary GCC youth culture with themes of love, loneliness, and daydreams, challenging social conventions while maintaining a playful charm.

RexChouk's unique strength lies in his brutal honesty and unabashed storytelling, deeply rooted in regional contemporary culture.

His work, reminiscent of animated sitcoms, invites viewers to question the status quo through unpredictable narratives and a blend of traditional attire with disarming artistic style.
